Introduction. Investigations aimed at increasing the range of medicines of plant origin due to the production of their new dosage forms (DFs) are highly relevant to modern pharmacy. According to some indicators, including «Microscopic signs», medicinal herbal remedies derived from crushed materials must meet the quality indicators characteristic for starting medicinal plant raw materials. Objective: to comparatively analyze the anatomic and diagnostic signs of crushed hawthorn (Crataegus) berry DFs: powder and cut-pressed granules. Material and methods. The objects of the investigation were powder and cut-pressed granules derived from hawthorn berries. The cut-pressed granules were prepared and microscopic analysis was carried out in accordance with the methods given in the State Pharmacopoeia of the Russian Federation, Edition XIII. The anatomic and diagnostic signs were identified using an Olympus CX41 microscope. Results. The cut-pressed granules keep the main anatomical and diagnostic signs of hawthorn berries, i.e. the production process has no impact on the magnitude of anatomical signs, as shown by a microscopic analysis of this DF. Conclusion. The identity of cut-pressed hawthorn berry granules can be established according to the indicator «Microscopic signs»
