The paper gives the results of technological and biopharmaceutical studies of soft formulations – rectal suppositories containing nicotinic acid and alcohol-based propolis extract. The optimal composition of thickeners was defined from the agent’s solubility, appearance, and pharmaceutical availability that was established by an agar gel diffusion test. The semipermeable lecithin membrane diffusion test was carried out to reveal the effects of excipients – penetrators (polyethylene 400, emulsifier T2, and Tween 80) on the processes and complete release of active ingredients from the base. The main quality indicators, such as dissolution time of suppositories, the degree and changes of their release of active ingredients, were defined for the designed formulation.
