ENHANCING THE QUALITY OF PHARMACEUTICAL CARE TO GLAUCOMA PATIENTS

The results of an anonymous face-to-face questionnaire survey in 200 outpatients with primary open-angle glaucoma treated at the Voronezh Regional Clinical Ophthalmology Hospital in 2013 were applied to make up a social portrait of a pharmaceutical care (PC) user with glaucoma, to analyze a range of drugs used according to the healthcare delivery standards, to assess quality of life in the patients, to determine their compliance and satisfaction with PC rendered, and to evaluate the efficiency of subsidized provision of medicaments in these patients. The results of the survey were used to form a system of recommendations to improve the quality of PC to patients with this nosological entity in two main areas: organizational (the setting up of glaucoma patient schools on the basis of therapeutic and prophylactic institutions) and innovative (the use of software products) ones, as well as transition to an insurance model of the provision of drugs to patients.
