PHARMACOPOEIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR MICROSCOPIC ANALYSIS OF RAW MEDICINAL PLANT MATERIALS

The paper gives the results of working out draft general articles for the 13th editions of the State Pharmacopoeia of the Russian Federation on microscopic analysis of raw medicinal plant materials. The basis of the drafts is different methodological approaches to microscopic techniques in relation to the morphological group of raw materials and the degree of their granulation; procedures for determination of the quantitative characteristics of the anatomic and diagnostic signs of raw medicinal plant materials are described. The articles worked out will substantially reduce the work of analytical druggists in making a microscopic analysis and improve the standardization and quality control of raw medicinal plant materials and their formulations.
