EXTERNAL CONDITIONS AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF MODERN RUSSIAN PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY

Introduction. Pharmaceutical industry is one of the high-tech sectors of Russia’s economy. The state industrial policy encourages high investment and innovation activities in the industry. Russian companies are actively involved in implementing of the strategy of import substitution, by reducing Russia’s economy dependence on imports and by developing the companies’ own production. Objective: to assess the impact of external conditions on the development of modern Russian pharmaceutical industry. Material and methods. The data of the Federal State Statistics Service were analyzed using economic and statistical methods. Results. A correlation model was constructed and the actual factors influencing the development of Russian pharmaceutical production were revealed. The regression model reflects the dependence of Russian pharmaceutical product yields upon a change in external environmental factors in the trend during 2006 to 2016. A realistic scenario was proposed to change the yield of drug production by major pharmacotherapeutic groups. Conclusion. The findings can be used to elaborate industrial development strategies.
