ANALYSIS OF THE MARKET OF NARCOTIC DRUGS AND PSYCHOTROPIC SUBSTANCES IN SAINT PETERSBURG AND THE LENINGRAD REGION

Introduction. The problem of palliative care and potent analgesic drugs provided to patients remains now. It is therefore necessary to assess the current situation, by analyzing the range of narcotic drugs (NDs) and psychotropic substances (PSs) that officially circulate in Saint-Petersburg and the Leningrad Region. Objective: to determine the range and turnover of NDs and PSs on the market of Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Region. Material and methods. The ND and PS market in Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Region was analyzed in 2015 according to the data of JSC “Petersburg Pharmacies”. Nine pharmacies dispensing NDs and PSs were considered. 32 medicines of various dosage forms were analyzed; 13 and 19 drugs of them belonged to NDs and PSs, respectively. Results. The most dispensed NDs and PSs were rated. The first top drugs included Phenobarbital 0.1 g tablet, No. 10 (No. 31); Clonazepam 0.002 g tablet, No. 30 (No. 19); Fentanyl 50 µg/ml 2 ml, No. 5 (No. 13); Sibazon 0.005 g tablet, No. 20 (No. 29); Relium 0.005 g tablet, No. 20 (No. 27; Relanium 0.5% 2 ml, No. 5 (No. 24). Their turnover exceeded 2.500 units. Conclusion. The analysis has identified the most common NDs and PSs on the pharmaceutical market in Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, their prices, and the pharmaceutical companies involved in the manufacture of these drugs.
