Willow (Salix) bark and its extract show a pronounced anti-inflammatory effect and can be successfully used to treat diseases of the locomotor system. The nomenclature of drugs and dietary supplements (DSs) containing willow bark and its extract has been studied. Information on their optimal formulations, ingredients, and their amount is analyzed. The most common formulation is capsules that have technological benefits and ensure compliance. Most willow-containing DSs are multicomponent, which hampers the identification and measurement of biologically active substances. There are data on current trends in the oral administration of native pulverized plant raw material, including willow bark. Prospects for the use of different willow species to manufacture domestic medicines and DSs as a pulverized plant raw material in capsules are shown.
