Along with Breckland thyme (Thymus serpyllum L.) used in clinical practice, there are its 8 more species that grow in European Russia and are procured for raw material. These thyme species vary in the content and qualitative composition of essential oil. The essential oil of Thymus dimorphus Klok. et Shost. growing in the Kursk Region was investigated. The content of the oil in the raw material was 0.15%. Gas-liquid chromatography using an Agilent Technology 6890N chromatograph and a 5973N mass-spectrometric detector could ascertain 40 substances, out of them 31 were identified. The main components E- (444.13 mg/kg) and Z-citral (368.43 mg/kg) were revealed.
