RHEOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF THE HYDROPHILIC BASES OF SOFT FORMULATIONS

The choice of rational technology of hydrophilic bases requires that the rheological properties of soft formulations should be studied. The performed investigations could compare the optimal concentrations of gelling agents in view of their viscosity values and characterize the test samples as disperse systems. The stability of hydrophilic bases was studied in all ranges of shear rates. The findings may be used to choose a hydrophilic base for the manufacture of soft formulations and for the prediction of technological parameters and consumer properties, such as tube filling and extrusion rates and usability and easiness to apply to the skin and mucosae.
