METHODOLOGICAL BASES FOR REVEALING THE SPECIFIC FEATURES OF PHARMACEUTICAL CARE TO PREGNANT WOMEN WITH HYPOTHYROIDISM

Background. Thyroid dysfunctions lead to pregnancy and labor complications and other gynecological problems in women. Objective: to comparatively characterize clinical guidelines in order to form the methodological bases for revealing the specific features of pharmaceutical care to pregnant women with hypothyroidism. Material and methods. The clinical guidelines of the American Thyroid Association, the USA Endocrine Society, the European Thyroid Association, and the Federal Clinical Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Thyroid Diseases in Pregnant Women were studied using a content analysis and a comparative analysis. Results. The authors have formed main criteria that were used to comparatively characterize the documents analyzed. Recommendations for the treatment of hypothyroidism in pregnant women are presented in all the documents, but the emphases placed in them are rather widely differentiated. Replacement therapy using different L-T4 dosages is the current standard of treatment for hypothyroidism. Conclusion. The methodological bases were formed to reveal the specific features of pharmaceutical care to pregnant women with hypothyroidism. The study results may be used by pharmacists, practitioners, and investigators in optimizing medical and pharmaceutical care to pregnant women with thyroid pathology.
