Introduction. Urolithiasis, or nephrolithiasis, occupies one of the leading places in the structure of urologic diseases in prevalence rates. By taking into account the chronic pattern of nephrolithiasis and its multiple etiologies, the preferred treatment for this disease is phytotherapy. The Department of Pharmacognosy, I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, has designed an effective and low-toxic multicomponent herbal tea, the tincture of which is recommended for the treatment and prevention of urolithiasis. Objective: to conduct morphological and anatomical studies of the herbal tea for the treatment and prevention of urolithiasis and also to identify its diagnostic signs. Material and methods. The investigation object was a 5- and 2-mm ground laboratory-prepared experimental sample of herbal tea for the treatment and prevention of urolithiasis. Macroscopic and microscopic methods for analyzing raw medicinal plant materials were used. Results. The morphological signs of the herbal tea and its individual components varying in fineness factor, such as bearberry (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi) leaves, madder (Rubia) rhizomes and roots, horsetail (Equisetum arvense) herb, common knotgrass (Polygonum aviculare) herb, dog rose (Rosa canina) hips, peppermint (Mentha piperita) leaves, and birch (Betula) leaves, were investigated. The anatomic and diagnostic signs of the herbal tea and its individual components were revealed. The particle size of the raw material was established to have no substantial effect on the realization of the anatomic and diagnostic signs. Conclusion. The authors propose the characteristics of identity of the herbal tea used to treat and prevent urolithiasis, in which particles can pass through the sieve hole of 5 and 2 mm in diameter. The findings may be used to make a draft pharmacopeia article for the herbal tea.
